James Retarides is a licensed professional counselor (LIC# 10884) and national certified counselor with experience in journalism, personal training and coaching. As a therapist, he takes a social cognitive approach to helping clients develop self-efficacy and assertiveness skills. His strengths lie in motivating clients and helping them realize their passions and better address adversity in their lives. James is a four-time national champion, and continues competing in multiple strength sports on a national and international level who today focuses heavily on training for specific, world-class feats of strength. He enjoys traveling and understanding cultures and has experience working with clients from Latin American countries. James takes a strength-based approach intended to help clients conduct honest self-inventory, develop confidence and realize their potential. James works with clients ages 14 and over. His areas of focus are acculturation, anger management, anxiety, comorbidity, behavioral issues, bullying, codependency, communication, conflict resolution, coping skills, couples counseling, depression, divorce therapy, family conflict, mood disorders, performance anxiety, personality disorders, phobias, PTSD, and sports psychology.
